The bookies favour the Wallabies against an England team weakened by injuries and, despite all the ‘Welcoming to the Hillsides’ of the All Blacks, they do not think that this will make up for previous Welsh poor showings.

Australia are being offered at 4/7 at bet365 with England at 9/5 at BlueSQ, and New Zealand are going for 2/9 at William Hill against Wales who are 9/2 at bet365. But are the bookies right?

Martin Johnson the English coach certainly doesn’t think so. He has been working on improving their trust in themselves, and he believes that this is paying off. This trust also involves his personal relationship with the team.

Unfortunately the England side is significantly weakened by injuries and many players in Saturday’s team are lacking in experience, though many England fans will be very happy to see Jonny Wilkinson and Steve Thompson back in the side. This match could very well depend on how well England handles the scrum.

It is certain that the band of 74,500 Welsh men and women who will be in full voice on Saturday at Cardiff don’t agree with the bookies either. Despite the Welsh lack of form, the New Zealand side is lacking in experience and there are several new caps playing and their Haka is unlikely to unsettle this Welsh side, not when they can respond with ‘Mae Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau’.

Warren Gatland, the Welsh coach has stated that the All Blacks had lost their aura of invincibility following their recent defeats, but the All Blacks coach Graham Henry when questioned about this merely said that he did not know what the word ‘aura’ meant.

Logically, it is likely that the All Blacks will win the day, but it could be by a small margin. It could be that at 9/2 Wales are worth a gamble.
