The Merseyside Derby is always a interesting encounter, and the lack of form that both teams have going into this game only make it more intriguing. So will it be the Toffeemen or the Kopites who go into work on Monday morning with the bragging rights?

In midweek, Liverpool saw their hopes of winning the Champions League for a sixth time dashed (for this season at least). The Red’s will need one of the most memorable comebacks ever to feature in the Premier League title race this season, in fact Liverpool’s “Top 4” place is under serious threat from the likes of Man City and Tottenham.

Defender Daniel Degan, is suspended for Sunday’s clash and winger Ryan Babel is defiantly out with a ankle injury. Liverpool fans will be hopeful that late fitness tests for Albert Riera and Fernando Torres will deliver good news, but it looks like they will have to remain patient with expensive summer signing Alberto Aquilani, who is expected to once again start on the bench.

David Moyes must look at Rafa Benitez’s injury list with envy. The Scot has five first team players out with knee injuries (Phil Neville, Victor Anichebe, Mikel Arteta, Phil Jagielka and James Vaughan). Leon Osman and Jack Rodwell face late fitness tests but Marouane Fellaini and Diniyar Bilyaletdinov are back after serving suspensions. The Blues haven’t lost at home since the opening day of the season and beat Liverpool last time the two met, when Dan Gosling scored a extra time goal in last season’s FA cup tie.

This game is a great chance for both teams to get their season back on track. Liverpool have lost their last three away matches, and Everton, whilst having a solid home record, have been leaking goals like no one’s business this season. Don’t be surprised to see both teams take a point each away from Sunday’s game, 12/5 with Skybet is the best price on a draw.

This tie in the past has seen it’s fair share of red cards, if you think someone could be given their marching orders then take the 11/4 with William Hill.
