The race is often seen as a preparatory race for the Queen Mother Champion Chase which will be run in March during the Cheltenham Festival. Several winners of the Victor Chandler Chase have gone on to win the Queen Mother Champion Chase a couple of months later, so it is worth remembering which horse wins this one.

Last year the winner was Master Minded which was trained by Paul Nicholls and ridden by Ruby Walsh. This year it looks as if Paul Nicholls will have another winner, as his horse Twist magic is looking superb. Last month he destroyed the rest of the field in the Tingle Creek at Sandown Park and most of the top tipsters have him in their sights for the Victor Chandler. The down side is that the horse competed in the Victor Chandler two years ago and failed to be placed.

Currently the best odds available on Twist Magic are 5/3 from Sky Bet.

The second favourite is Petit Robin which is available at 11/4 with Coral. Certainly it is worth considering this horse which is trained by Nicky Henderson; this seven year old finished second in the Victor Chandler last year.

These two horses are certainly far ahead of the other runner and one of them should win. Given the longer odds, a bet on Petit Robin might be a good investment and that is what we recommend.
