Indianapolis Colts 8/1 To Win Super Bowl XLV

Indianapolis are this morning recovering from a surprise loss in a thrilling Super Bowl last night but the Colts have been installed as 8/1 favourites with BlueSQ to win Super Bowl XLV.

The New Orleans Saints completed their fairytale story to upset the form book and win Super Bowl XLIV last night – their first ever appearance in the NFL showpiece coming just four and a half years after Hurricane Katrina devastated the city.

An MVP performance from Quarter Back Drew Brees led the second-half comeback for the Saints, who were 10-0 down in only the first quarter, with Brees finding running back Pierre Thomas and Tight End Jeremy Shockey in the second half as well as passing to Lance Moore for a crucial two-point conversion in the fourth quarter. Corner Back Tracy Porter returned a 74 yard interception from Colts QB Peyton Manning with 3:12 remaining to secure a 31-17 victory.

But the Colts have been priced up at 8/1 favourites to win next season’s Super Bowl in Arlington, Texas, with the Saints a point behind at 9/1.

The New England Patriots and the San Diego chargers currently sit at 10/1 and they are two teams that could capitalise if the NFL runs without a salary cap in 2010, with a dispute between the NFL team owners and the NFL Players Association still ongoing.

An abolition of the salary cap would also benefit the Dallas Cowboys more than most, with the league’s wealthiest team priced at 14/1 with Betfred to win the Super Bowl in their home stadium. The same price can be had on the Minnesota Vikings, who lost to New Orleans in the NFC Championship game and Pittsburgh, who failed to make the play-offs this season.

Green Bay are at 20/1 with Philadelphia whilst the New York Jets , the surprise package for many this year as they made it to the AFC Championship game, are at 22/1.
