Blood Clot Puts Bolton’s Gary Cahill Out

Bolton defender Gary Cahill could miss out on the rest of the season after a blood clot has been found in his arm.
24 year old Cahill was taken ill on Friday and missed out on Saturdays 0-0 draw against Fulham.
He is due to be released from hospital today, after being admitted on Saturday in order to be kept under observation.
Bolton manager Owen Coyle told reporters: “Gary suffered a pain in his arm and it became severely swollen.
“It turns out he had a blood clot in his arm, so he is going to be out for a couple of months.”
“I don’t think it’s a sports related injury, I think it’s just one of those things that can happen to anyone at any time,” said Coyle.
Cahill will miss the next few months at minimum after undergoing treatment on his arm, however, it’s expected he will sit out the rest of the season.
Cahill was also tipped to be part of England’s World Cup squad this summer, however his chances have now been severely knocked even if he manages to make a return before the end of this season, making the news especially hard-hitting.
Coyle has led calls for England Boss Fabio Capello to take the former England Under-21 player to South Africa this summer but even he seems to realise the young defenders chances have been ruined this time around: “He had a chance to go to the World Cup - but that chance will come again.”
Cahill has been promised first-class treatment in his recovery bid by the former Burnley boss: “Gary will get the best care available to him. As much as we love football, we will focus on making sure Gary recovers well.”
Cahill was part of the World Cup qualifying victory over Kazakhstan in June 2009 though he has yet to claim a senior cap.
