Odds Lengthen Considerably on Weekend Six Nations Losers

They say that miracles can happen and so they might. If you think that this is the case, then maybe it might be worth wagering a pound or two on the teams that lost out in the Six Nations rugby tournament this weekend. Scotland lost to Wales and Italy lost to England, though in neither case did the victors enjoy particularly decisive victories.

The odds on Italy winning the tournament are 5,000/1 with Victor Chandler and the odds on Scotland winning it are 1,500/1 with 888Sport.

France, which enjoyed a decisive victory over Ireland is now the clear favourite to win at 4/9 with Stan James, England is second favourite 9/2 with Boyle Sports.

Certainly this Six Nations championship has kept fans on tenterhooks.  In the match between Wales and Scotland, Wales who were the initial favourites trailed Scotland until the very final minute of the match when a penalty allowed them to equalise the score and a determined last ditch effort with the ball still in play after time allowed them to score. This time it had been Wales who had benefited from a trip which led to them being awarded a penalty in the final 45 seconds of play.

The England match was only a little less nail biting. Before the match began nobody thought Italy had a chance, bet they showed themselves to be more or less the equal of England and played with great heart. England managed to hang on but just; their playing lacked style, commitment and imagination. Even Jonny Wilkinson seemed to have forgotten how to kick even easy balls.

France’s victory over Ireland was decisive and the side has showed considerable dominance. The gap between France and Ireland in terms of skill and commitment is huge, and France looks as though they are going to win the tournament hands down.
