USA Take On Canada In Women’s Ice Hockey Final
The USA and Canada’s women ice hockey teams are going head to head today in a true North American battle. For Canada, this and the men’s final is the big one. Ice Hockey is the national sport and it’s on home soil at the UBC Thunderbird Arena. If they can win the two Ice Hockey finals all failures in the sliding and skiing events will be forgotten in a blaze of glory. This is what they do. This is their sport.
The USA of course is no novice at the brutal and fast sport of ice hockey. They have already proved at these games and many other sporting events around the world that while their national image is an overweight, middle-aged white male, they still dominant at all sports. The funding and internal competition and environment is just right. Thankfully the only two sports the USA seem to be bad at are football and rugby, the two sports we the British excel at.
It is sure to be a close match. Canada proved right from the off that they were in it to win it with an 18-0 destruction of Slovakia. The USA has been consistent and dynamic throughout the tournament; they scored 25 goals in their first two matches and have never let in more than one goal in a match. In the men’s match between the two countries the Americans won 5-3, is this foreshadowing the result of the women’s final? We shall see.
