Women’s Slalom Odds

Austrian Marlies Schild is the favourite for the Ladies’ Slalom event today. The alpine skier, who won silver in the combined and bronze in the slalom at Turin, has odds of 2/1 with betfred to win.
The overall best female skier in the world Lindsey Vonn makes an appearance as well. Vonn has already won the ladies downhill and come third in the Ladies super-g at the Olympics so far but has always struggled in the slalom events, finishing fourth in Turin. The American has odds of 20/1 with both bet365 and betfred.
Also in contention is Maria Riesch of Germany, who won the gold in the super-combined. Her past Slalom events have been impressive as well, she came first in last year’s world championships and is currently ranked first in the world cup. Riesch has odds of 6/1 with bet365.
Austria has a chance at two medals with Kathrin Zettel also racing. Zettel is currently second in the world cup rankings for slalom and has had numerous podium finishes in it, though her preference seems to be the giant slalom as she has far more first place finishes in this event. She was disqualified from the Turin Slalom event. Bet365 are offering odds of 6/1 for Zettel to win.
Germany will be hoping for an all-European top three so as to deny the USA the chance to get any more medals. The current medal count sees Germany just two medals behind leaders America and any chance to narrow the gap will be seized with gusto. With just a few days left in the Winter Olympics there is still all to play for. There are over a dozen medal events still to be played and Germany in the USA are in contention for many of them. It will be a photo finish, perhaps going down to the last event. Betfair believe the USA will be victorious, offering odds of 17/100 for America and 19/5 for Germany.
