Series Ten of Dancing With the Stars

Paddy Power

The tenth series of America’s equivalent to our Strictly Come Dancing will air on March 22nd, 2010. The first show will not feature an elimination, and so the elimination process will begin the following week on March 30th. Host Tom Bergeron will be returning with a new co-hostess, the champion of season seven, Brooke Burke. There will be eleven celebrity contestants participating in the show, fewer than previous seasons, and it will also be the first season to feature more female celebrities than male.

The cast of the new series includes Pussycat Dolls singer and recently reconciled girlfriend of Lewis Hamilton, Nicole Scherzinger. Her professional partner will be Derek Hough, the dancer recently associated with Cheryl Cole amidst speculation that he might be her new man. She is already the favourite to win the show, with odds from Paddy Power at 7/4. Olympic Gold Medal Figure Skater Evan Lysacek is leading the odds out of the male contestants at 2/1, presumably due to his physical fitness and experience with the fluid movements associated with skating. Other contestants include ESPN Sportscaster Erin Andrews, actor and model Aiden Turner and the legendary Pamela Anderson. There are also actresses Shannen Doherty and Niecy Nash, former reality TV star Kate Gosselin, American football player Chad Ochocinco and actor Jake Pavelka.

Inarguably one of the most interesting contestants of the series is 80 year old retired astronaut Buzz Aldrin, the second man to set foot on the moon. He will be paired with professional dancer Ashly DelGrosso, who participated in the first three seasons of the show and is now making her return. Aldrin will be the oldest contestant of the series and it has been confirmed that he will be performing a cha-cha-cha routine in the first show. Buzz has the widest odds of all the contestants, at 50/1 that he will be the winner.
