Ronaldo was signed by Madrid for a world record £80 million last summer had spoke for a long time of his wish to one day play for the Spanish giants but Ferguson feels that the high pressure atmosphere in Madrid may lead Ronaldo to one day come back to Manchester.

"I don't think Real Madrid is an easy club to play for - there is a circus attached to it," said Ferguson.

"He knows the value of Manchester United, and Ruud van Nistelrooy has said the same because what they have here is protection.
"They come to training every day at Carrington and there is no one here but the players and the coaching staff.

"At Real Madrid and some of the big Italian clubs there are 2,000 people watching training.

"The media film the training sessions every day. It is completely private here at United and we don't allow that exposure of our players.
"You'd like to think Ronaldo would want to come back here but you never know.

"I don't think he will stay at Real Madrid all his life - there are other challenges for him."

This has come just days after the Portuguese admitted himself  that a return to  Man United would never be fully off the cards.

And anyone who feels that Ronaldo leaving in the summer has in any way damaged his relationship with Ferguson is seemingly wrong with the Scot adding: “I still have a great bond with Cristiano - he's a good guy,''.

Ronaldo may be at this moment casting an envious glance at his former United team mates as his Real Madrid side was knocked out of the Champions League in mid week just a day after United cruised through against Milan.

United are one of the favourites to win the Champions League this year at 7/2 with William Hill and to do so would mean them making their third final in a row.
