England Team Unchanged
England have announced their team for their third test against Pakistan at the Oval today and it is an unchanged side from the one that beat the tourists at Trent Bridge as they look to take a 3-0 lead in the series.
Andrew Strauss' men have looked extremely comfortable in the two tests so far, excelling with the ball in what have so far been conditions that have favoured the bowlers, allowing England's attack and especially James Anderson, to swing the ball impressively.
This will probably not be the case today at the Oval and Strauss, although he is suitably confident that his side can continue their winning run, is aware that the weather will ensure that things will not go quite as smoothly when bowling this time round.
"We've got every reason to be reasonably confident about things but we are also conscious that the conditions at the Oval are going to very different to the first two wickets we've played on," said the England captain.
"We need to be on our game and be able to sustain pressure for long periods of time to take wickets and, hopefully, make use of good batting conditions if we encounter them."
Strauss has also again backed his fellow opening batsman Alastair Cook who has seen his form tail off recently, but the skipper is sure that a big score is around the corner from the talented opener and that today may be the day it happens.
"He seems fine and is determined to show everyone what a good player he is," added Strauss.
"One batsman always seems to be under pressure one way or another and you have to react well to it.
"I've had a chat with him - he's got his head screwed on and one of his strengths has been scoring runs when perhaps he is not at his most fluent.
England won the toss today and this just helps solidify their position as favourites for this match.
Andrew Strauss is, at the moment, 21/5 with betfair to be the top run scorer in the series against Pakistan.
