Bookies Report Surge Of Money On Moyes For Villa Job

David Moyes fell to as little as 7/2 to become the next Aston Villa manager last night, although incumbent caretaker Kevin MacDonald remains the favourite for the job.

Moyes fell from 40/1 Monday evening to as little as 5/4 with Paddy Power, although the price on current Everton manager has eased slightly since, to a best of 10/1 with Victor Chandler.

Skybet have eased out to 7/1 whilst Paddy Power, Stan James and BlueSQ have eased to 6/1.
"Moyes has come from nowhere to be the favourite, but count me among those who will be stunned if he leaves Everton for Villa Park,” said Sky Bet spokesman Andrew Scurr.

Steve Freeth of bet365 said: "Everton only visited Villa Park on Sunday and some punters feel that Moyes will be there on a permanent basis by the end of the international break.

"He certainly ticks the right boxes as far as Randy Lerner is concerned, but it would be a surprise if he left Goodison Park for the Midlands."

MacDonald remains the favourite for the post at a best price of 5/2 with Stan James after he officially threw his hat into the ring to take the job on full-time whilst Sven Goran Eriksson is next in line at 4/1.
