Could David Beckham be back in the England squad?

Less than a month after England manager Fabio Capello abruptly ended David Beckham's international career, it appears that second-thoughts have already started to cross the Italian's mind.

Capello commented that Beckham was 'probably too old' to be playing for the national side in a television interview earlier in the year, unfortunately Beckham was not informed of the England manager's views beforehand.

The move led to widespread criticism of the Italian's management style, especially after England's poor performance in the World Cup.

Capello's comments seemed doubly harsh considering Beckham, who was ruled out of the competition due to injury, accompanied the squad to South Africa to lend his moral support.

It was hinted by the 64-year-old manager that Beckham could potentially feature in one more England international game, as a means of saying 'farewell' to his fans and the country.

However it now seems that Capello may have more than a final farewell game in mind for the prolific midfielder.

"The future is for the young players as we have to think about the Euros, but no one player is out," said Capello.

Capello has also insisted that he and the LA Galaxy star on good terms despite the supposed animosity, saying: "The future is for the young players as we have to think about the Euros, but no one player is out.”

There may be few other options for the Italian in the build up to the Euro 2012 qualifiers as the bad luck that plagued England's World Cup campaign seems to be intent on keeping a firm grip on the squad.

England have been hampered with injuries and retirement, with Peter Crouch and Scott Carson being the latest victims.

England will face Bulgaria in their first Euro 2012 qualifier, with BlueSQ, Paddy Power and 888sport offering 15/4 odds of a draw between the two sides.
