Jay Kay Cut To 8/1 To Be New Stig But Female Replacement Remains Favourite
William Hill have shortened the odds of Jamiraquai’s Jay Kay becoming the new Stig from 66/1 to just 8/1 following a raft of speculative bets from punters.
The Space Cowboy, a self-proclaimed ‘petrol head’, has often excelled as “A Star In A Reasonably Priced Car” and has surprisingly emerged as one of the front runners for the new role of the Stig.
The bookmaker still believes that Top Gear bosses will opt for a female Stig to replace Ben Collins, offering 4/1 on a “Miss Stig”.
Former F1 drivers Anthony Davidson and Damon Hill are both priced at 5/1.
“Jay Kay has performed well on the show in the past and our punters feel sure that he could do a good job on Top Gear, however, should the BBC wish to keep the Stig’s identity a secret backers could be sitting on their Stig slips for up to a decade,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.
