Peter Shilton evicted from Strictly
Former England goalkeeper Peter Shilton has become the latest celeb to get the boot from Strictly Come Dancing.
His Charleston with partner Erin Boag failed to impress the judges, who gave him a score of just 17 points putting him bottom of the leaderboard. The judge’s votes meant that Shilton and Destiny's Childs star Michelle Williams were in the bottom two but a combination of the judges votes and the viewers meant that it was Shilton who left the show.
The England ace's performance fell flat with the judges who were quick to criticise his dance.
Bruno Tonioli told him: "Oh Peter, what can I say, you looked like a penguin stuck in the mud! It couldn't quite get going.
"It's true you've never done it before and it's tough because it requires the timing to be spot on, it has to have energy and it didn't really gel."
While Craig Revel Horward told him: "I'm glad you had a good time, because I couldn't wait for it to finish.
"The white gloves were a big mistake, it just magnified everything that was wrong with it."
However, it was the sight of Ann Widdecombe flying that stole the show on Saturday night. The former MP was hoisted in on a trapeze to start her performance. She was seen descending to the ground while flapping in what looked like a bird impression.
And she managed to have the audience eating out her hands during her performance of the tango.
And according to head judge Len Goodman: "seeing Ann Widdecombe in a truss coming down from the sky was worth 50 per cent of the TV licence."
While Tonioli gushed: "Truly out of this world. Was it a bird? Was it a plane? No, it was starship Widdecombe."
Countryfile presenter Matt Baker is currently favourite to win the show with odds of 2/1 with Bwin, Bodog and Coral, while Eastender Scott Maslan has odds of 3/1 with extrabet and Boylesports and 11/4 with Betfred.
And His former Eastenders castmate Kara Tointon is priced at 5/1 with sportingbet, Victor Chandler and Skybet to win the show.
