Jimi Mistry latest celeb voted off Strictly
East is East star Jimi Mistry has become the latest celeb to dance off Strictly Come Dancing.
Mistry was given the boot despite receiving his highest score of the series so far for his quickstep. He scored 32 out of a possible 40 on Saturday and was praised by judges Bruno Tonioli, who said his dance with Flavia Cacace " really captured the jazz-era feel", and Alesha Dixon, who said: "You make everybody smile."'
But despite impressing the judges the former Eastender failed to wow the audience and had to leave the show. His departure leaves just nine celebrities in the running for the famous glitter ball trophy: Ann Widdecombe, Kara Tointon, Gavin Henson, Matt Baker, Patsy Kensit, Felicity Kendal, Michelle Williams, Scott Maslen and Pamela Stephenson.
And it is former MP Ann Widdecombe that Mistry has tipped to win the show. He said after being booted off Strictly: "I think Ann has a very good chance of going all the way. Only from the fact that all of us as dancers and pro dancers are up there watching it going 'Ooh'."
He added: "It is funny and she's really trying and bless her she's actually going out there and gets a bit miffed if she doesn't get good scores because she wants to dance and I know Anton wants to do well."
The 63-year-old managed to win over the audience with her Charleston routine but her rendition failed to dazzle the judges. Craig Revel Horward gave the former Tory minister just two points while Bruno Tonioli described the dance as being "like Vera Duckworth's grandma during the great depression.”
Ann Widdecombe has odds of 9/1 with sportingbet to win the show and 7/1 with Skybet and totesport. The favourite to win the show however, is Countryfile's Matt Baker who has odds of 6/4 with 888sport, Stanjames and Paddypower. Easteneder Scott Maslan has odds of 5/2 with totesport and bwin to win the show and 12/5 with Boylesport. And his ex-cast mate Kara Tointon has odds of 6/1 with sportingbet and Victor Chandler to win the show and 9/2 with Bluesq.
