Lewis Hamilton is going to through a series of improvements for the 2012 Formula One season, according to his father Anthony Hamilton...

Hamilton's father has been speaking to press about his son's dramatic 2011 season, which has seen go through a series of both highs and lows. The young McLaren driver has had an inconsistent season at best, having grabbed a handful of podium finishes, but also failing to finish a significant number of races. Despite this, the 2008 champion has also showed glimpses of the talent and driving prowess if recent years with his performances towards the end of this season.

“He's turned a corner in everything he's done, his lifestyle and his love of motorsport," commented Hamilton's father.

"You've not seen Lewis Hamilton yet, you've seen a young Lewis Hamilton. Now a new Lewis Hamilton is coming."

Nearly all of Hamilton's incidents on the track have come as a result of clashes and collisions with Ferrari's Felipe Massa, which has been evident in both the Monaco Grand Prix Singapore Grand Prix; this has led to many critics claiming that Hamilton is too aggressive in his driving style.

The constant criticism of Hamilton by the press has led his father to defend him and his actions during this season.

"There's only so much [negative criticism] that one person can take," said Hamilton's father.

"Lewis is an extremely talented individual and I tell you what, most of us would not have been able to come back from what he has had to face this year.”

With a hint towards the close of the season that Hamilton may be returning to the form that has previously made him a champion, both his father and fans seem optimistic that 2012 will be Hamilton's year in the spotlight for all the right reasons.

BlueSQ, Stan James and Sky Bet currently offer 9/2 odds that Ferrari's Fernando Alonso will go on to win the 2012 F1 drivers' championship.
