Sven-Goran Eriksson believes England can win Euro 2012
It has been a while since Sven-Goran Eriksson has been at the helm of England's national football squad; however, this doesn't mean that he has lost any of the faith he had in his former team...
The former England manager has recently made comments concerning his belief of England's excellent chances in the Euro 2012 competition; in addition to this, Eriksson also tipped Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp to take over as the next England manager – the comments come following an announcement earlier in the week by current England manager Fabio Capello, who informed the nation that he would definitely be stepping down from his role following the impending Euro competition.
Despite his belief in England's chance, the Swedish manager did admit that he felt that his former side would need a little bit of luck if they were to be successful in seeing their Euro 2012 campaign reach a satisfying closure.
"I think they have big possibilities of the semi-final or final. Why not win it? With a little bit of luck, not a lot of injuries and players not too tired, they have a chance." commented Eriksson, when asked about his opinions on England's chances during Euro 2012.
Eriksson also commented on England's tough group draw for the initial stages of the competition, saying: "When you go to the Euros you don't find any easy groups. It's tough but I will see England go there as the favourites [for the group]."
"England should go through to the quarter-finals, I'm quite sure of that," he added.
Coral, Ladbrokes and Paddy Power currently offer 7/2 odds that Germany will go on to win the Euro 2012 tournament.
